Bookroom:Silent load-bearing is the essene
Choose solid door cores or models with silent strips. If the door closes with a loud “bang”.Your reading or work will be interrupted! Silent hinges/door locks are equally important.
Board thickness: The thickness of the panel should be at least 18mm! The book is quite heavy, and thin boards will inevitably bend and deform over time. Check the thickness of the side panels; don’t just look at the surface.
The load-bearing capacity of the shelves is the soul of the bookcase! For wide shelves (with a span exceeding 80 centimeters) used for storing a large number of books, 18mm is the minimum requirement. For wider shelves (over 1 meter) or when expecting to store heavy hardcover books or documents, it is strongly recommended to choose a board thickness of 25mm or thicker, or to add additional vertical support columns (book guard columns) beneath the shelves.
Remember, the weight of the books is constantly applied, and even if a thin board initially does not deform, over time it is difficult to avoid bending. This not only affects the appearance but may also cause the books to tip over or make it difficult to retrieve or place them.
Load-bearing structure: Pay attention to whether the floor support.brackets are sturdy and if there are enough of them. Are the large compartments fully filled with books? The load-bearing structure is crucial.
Back panel: Don’t overlook it! The thin back panel is prone to shaking when touched. A thickness of at least 5mm is required to ensure the stability of the cabinet.
